About Oasis
Oasis formed in Manchester in 1991, built around the volatile partnership of two brothers: Liam Gallagher, the singer, and Noel Gallagher, the guitarist and principal songwriter. Their debut album, Definitely Maybe (1994), arrived as one of the fastest-selling debuts in British history, and its follow-up, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? (1995), turned them into the defining band of their era.
In August 1996 the band played two nights at Knebworth in Hertfordshire. Around 2.5 million people applied for tickets, roughly one in twenty of the UK population at the time, and the shows became the benchmark by which every later British stadium concert is measured.
The 2009 split
Oasis ended on 28 August 2009, backstage at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris, minutes before they were due on stage. Noel Gallagher left the band that night, stating that he "simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer." For fifteen years a reunion was treated as all but impossible.
The 2025 reunion
That changed with Oasis Live ’25. Running from July to November 2025, the reunion tour spanned 41 concerts across 14 countries and drew around 2.23 million fans, ranking among the highest-grossing tours of the year. Demand far outstripped supply: reporting on the UK and Ireland on-sale described millions of fans competing for roughly 1.4 million tickets, and the North American dates sold out within an hour.
