View EventLast updated: 30 September 2026.
The Ashes 2027 Southampton Test, England v Australia, runs from Wednesday 21 to Sunday 25 July 2027 at the Utilita Bowl in West End, Southampton. The venue releases its tickets in stages. The Utilita Bowl's own free ticket ballot opened on 2 September and closed at 11:59pm on Tuesday 29 September 2026. Ballot results are due by Friday 2 October, with successful applicants able to buy from midday that day, and general sale opens at 10am on Wednesday 14 October 2026.
The match is the 4th Rothesay Ashes Test, and it will be the first men's Ashes Test ever staged at the ground, formerly the Rose Bowl and the Ageas Bowl.
When do Ashes 2027 tickets go on general sale?
General sale for the Ashes 2027 Southampton Test opens at 10am on Wednesday 14 October 2026, and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has set the same date for its national general sale. Before that, the Utilita Bowl is due to tell ballot applicants their results by Friday 2 October 2026, and successful applicants can buy from midday that day, within a set purchase window.
How did the Utilita Bowl ballot work?
The Utilita Bowl ran its own free ticket ballot for the Southampton Test, separate from the ECB's national ballot. It opened on 2 September and closed at 11:59pm on Tuesday 29 September 2026. Applicants could ask for up to two tickets per selected day and could choose any of the five days. Tickets are allocated at random, and in the venue's own words, "Entering the ballot is free but does not guarantee tickets."
Hampshire Cricket members and Priority Club members also had their own buying windows, which opened between 8 and 21 September 2026 while the ballot was open.

How did the ECB's national ballot differ?
The ECB ran a separate national ballot, which opened at 10am on 2 September 2026 and closed at 11:59pm on Tuesday 29 September, the same deadline as the Utilita Bowl ballot. Its purchase windows, 1 to 5 October and 7 to 13 October 2026, do not apply to the Southampton Test, where successful applicants buy through the venue's own ballot from midday on 2 October.
Are Ashes 2027 tickets sold out?
As of 30 September 2026, general sale for the Ashes 2027 Southampton Test has not yet opened. It starts at 10am on Wednesday 14 October 2026. The Utilita Bowl ballot has closed, and its results are due by Friday 2 October, with ballot purchases from midday that day. Until an official sale route is open to you, do not pay anyone for tickets.
What can you do if you missed the ballot?
If you missed the Utilita Bowl ballot, the next public route to Southampton Test tickets is general sale, which opens at 10am on Wednesday 14 October 2026. The venue releases hospitality on its own timetable, outside the ticket ballot. Our guide to Ashes 2027 hospitality at the Southampton Test explains how that release works and what a Test day includes.
When is the Ashes 2027?
The Rothesay Men's Ashes runs to five Tests in England between Friday 18 June and Monday 2 August 2027, dates the ECB confirmed on 23 July 2026. Australia hold the Ashes. The Southampton Test is the Fourth Test, running from Wednesday 21 to Sunday 25 July 2027 and scheduled to start at 11am.
Before the 2027 series in England, Australia and England meet in a one-off day-night 150th Anniversary Test at the MCG, 11 to 15 March 2027.
The Ashes 2027 Southampton Test page gives the weekday for each of the five days, and our Utilita Bowl venue guide covers getting there, parking and staying on site.
What happens to Southampton Ashes tickets if rain stops play?
For match tickets bought from the Utilita Bowl, the venue's published weather terms for this Test cover all five days. If no more than 15 overs are played on the day your ticket is for, you are entitled to a full refund of the match ticket value. If 15.1 to 30 overs are played, the refund is 50%. In no other circumstances is a refund issued.
The ECB's standard refund scheme for major match tickets uses the same thresholds, but it covers days 1 to 4 of a Test and states that it does not apply to day 5. At Southampton the venue's own terms apply the same thresholds to Sunday 25 July, the fifth day, as well. Refunds go to the original purchaser by the original payment method, exclude booking and administration charges, and do not need tickets returned unless the venue asks. Whether the weather delays or cancels play is for the umpires to decide, not venue staff. Our guide to Test match timings explains how lost time can change the shape of a Test day.
