About Erasure

Who are Erasure?

Erasure are Andy Bell (lead vocals) and Vince Clarke (keyboards and songwriting), the synth-pop duo whose Radio!! Radio!! Tour plays arenas across the UK and Ireland in 2027, opening at Utilita Arena Cardiff on Sunday 25 April. Andy Bell fronts the shows. Vince Clarke is musical director for the tour and will not appear onstage. Formed in London in 1985, the duo have five UK number-one albums to their name.

The partnership started with an advert Clarke placed in Melody Maker, looking for a singer. Bell answered it and won the audition, and the pair have made records together ever since.

What is the latest Erasure news?

The latest Erasure news came on Monday 28 September 2026, when the duo announced Radio!! Radio!!, their 20th studio album, out on Mute on 12 March 2027, along with an arena tour of the UK and Ireland with Ladytron as special guests. The first single, Wings of Love, premiered on BBC Radio 2 the same day and is track 3 on the album.

Six months earlier, on 31 March 2026, the band's official site put out a short message confirming that Vince Clarke and Andy Bell are still working together as Erasure and have no plans for that to stop.

In September 2025 they played four intimate shows billed as An Evening with Erasure, marking 40 years since the band formed: Edinburgh's Queen's Hall, London's Union Chapel, the RNCM Theatre in Manchester and St George's in Bristol, between 17 and 21 September. The band described them as informal evenings of conversation with some live performance.

Also in 2025, Andy Bell's solo album Ten Crowns debuted at No.14 on the UK Official Albums Chart. Their most recent top-five album as a duo came in 2020, when The Neon reached No.4, their highest UK album peak since 1994.

Who are the members of Erasure?

Erasure have two members: Andy Bell, the lead singer, and Vince Clarke, who plays keyboards and writes the songs. Before Erasure, Clarke was a founder member of Depeche Mode and then formed Yazoo and The Assembly. On the 2027 Radio!! Radio!! Tour, Andy Bell fronts every show, and Vince Clarke is musical director for the tour and will not appear onstage.

On the band's official album page, Andy Bell said of the arrangement: "I'm so pleased that we were able to find a way for the tour to work for Vince. He's always too modest but he's so much more than the Musical Director, Vince is one of the great loves of my life and everything we do as Erasure we decide together."

Both make solo records alongside Erasure: Vince Clarke released his debut solo album, Songs of Silence, in late 2023, and Andy Bell's Ten Crowns followed in 2025.

What are Erasure's biggest achievements?

Erasure's biggest honours are an Ivor Novello Award and a BRIT Award. In 1991 Blue Savannah won the Ivor Novello Award for Most Performed Work, and in 1989 they were BRIT Award winners (Best British Group).
