Glorious Goodwood 2027 Hospitality

Glorious Goodwood 2027 is the hospitality name for the Qatar Goodwood Festival, popularly known as Glorious Goodwood, a five-day flat racing meeting at Goodwood Racecourse near Chichester, West Sussex. Goodwood has published the 2027 dates on its own festival page: Tuesday 27 July to Saturday 31 July. On each of those five days the gates open at 11:00, the first race is at 13:50, the bars close at 19:30 and the gates close at 20:00, with Goodwood noting that all times are subject to confirmation. The clock says more about the day than the racecard does. A raceday here takes five to seven hours, and nearly three of them pass before a horse runs. That gap is what hospitality at this meeting is built to fill.

When is Glorious Goodwood 2027?

Glorious Goodwood 2027 runs from Tuesday 27 July to Saturday 31 July 2027 at Goodwood Racecourse, five consecutive days. Goodwood publishes those dates itself and designates all five as Premier Racedays. Goodwood's own wording for the week is "no fewer than 13 Group contests and three ultra-competitive Group 1s". What time does a raceday at Goodwood start and finish?

Gates open at 11:00, the first race is at 13:50, the bars close at 19:30 and the gates close at 20:00. Goodwood publishes a per-day last-race time for 2027 that ranges from 17:20 to 17:55 across the five days, and it attaches the note that all times are subject to confirmation. Plan on five to seven hours on site.

The awkward part of that clock sits at the front of the day, not the back. A guest arriving into Chichester station after 13:15 has missed the last inbound racecourse shuttle: those buses run at 15 and 45 minutes past the hour from 10:15 until 13:15. Return buses leave from outside the Gordon Enclosure East Entrance through the afternoon, and the last one goes 60 minutes after the final race. A group travelling by train needs one arrival time, agreed in advance, not five.

Which day of Glorious Goodwood 2027 suits which guest list?

Goodwood has published no race-by-race programme for 2027 and assigns no race to a 2027 day. The list below is the recent pattern taken from Goodwood's own day-by-day guide, checked on 7 September 2026. Which day you take matters more here than at a one-day fixture, because you are choosing one from five and each carries a different feature race.

• Tuesday, Goodwood Cup Day. The Group 1 Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup over two miles, for three-year-olds and up, the feature of the opening day. It was upgraded to Group 1 in 2017. Scandinavia won it in 2026, and in 2025 before that, back to back, and goes into 2027 as reigning champion.
• Wednesday, Sussex Stakes Day. The Group 1 Visit Qatar Sussex Stakes over a mile. Goodwood's own history page states Frankel is the only horse to have won it twice, in 2011 and 2012. Bow Echo won in 2026, from Gstaad and Opera Ballo.
• Thursday, Ladies' Day. Opens with the Markel Magnolia Cup, a charity race down the home straight ridden by women who are not professional jockeys, which Goodwood describes as the most prestigious charity race run in the UK. Its charity partner is the Education Above All Foundation. The Group 1 Qatar Nassau Stakes, for fillies and mares, follows: Aidan O'Brien has trained the winner three years running with Ryan Moore riding, Diamond Necklace in 2026.
• Friday, King George Day. The Group 2 King George Qatar Stakes over five furlongs, established in 1911 and shortened to five furlongs in 1948, alongside the Group 3 Bonhams Thoroughbred Stakes. American Affair won the King George in 2026.
• Saturday, Stewards' Cup Day. The Stewards' Cup, a sprint handicap rather than a Group race, run over six furlongs. It was inaugurated in 1840 and moved to the final day in 1993. Evening Saigon won in 2026.

The choice comes down to your guests more than to the racing. Tuesday opens the week with a staying race that unfolds slowly enough to explain to someone who has never been racing. Thursday is the day Goodwood itself names Ladies' Day, and the only one that opens with the charity race. Saturday's handicap sprint is over six furlongs and settled quickly, which makes it the easiest race of the week to follow from a balcony with a drink in your hand. Goodwood ranks none of the five days by attendance or by formality, so there is no published busiest or most formal day to plan around.

What does hospitality at Glorious Goodwood 2027 involve?

A Goodwood hospitality day is built from a badge and a base. The badge governs which enclosure you can move around in all day. The base is a room, balcony or courtyard reserved for your party from the gates opening to the close. Between them come two meals rather than one, with a reception drink before the first.

Goodwood names two hospitality venues as exclusive to this festival, The Secret Garden and The Final Furlong. The Final Furlong carries Gordon Enclosure admission, prime views of the course from a private balcony, a Bolney English sparkling wine reception, a three-course plated lunch, afternoon tea, an inclusive bar of house wine, beer, selected spirits and soft drinks, complimentary parking in car park 8, a racecard, betting facilities and a resident tipster. The Secret Garden sits in a prime position within the Richmond Enclosure, a trackside courtyard looking towards the winning post, and Goodwood's published list swaps the sparkling reception for a cocktail reception and the plated lunch for a Chef's Table menu. Alcohol at both venues is served to over-18s only, and ID may be asked for.

Seating is worth settling before you brief your guests. Nothing in either list is a grandstand seat with a race number on it. What is held for the day is the base and its balcony or courtyard, and the enclosure badge lets you walk to the rail, the Parade Ring and the raised viewing platforms from there. Most of a Goodwood raceday is spent moving between those places, which is why the base matters more than any single seat.

What is not included?

Three things sit outside every published Goodwood hospitality list: travel to and from the racecourse, accommodation, and betting stakes. The inclusive bar covers house wine, beer, selected spirits and soft drinks, served to over-18s with ID sometimes asked for, so premium spirits and anything sold from a separate list are bought on the day. Car park 8 parking appears on the two festival venues' lists and nothing beyond that is promised.

Goodwood's own hospitality page publishes no general inclusion list and no general exclusion list for the meeting, pushing the detail into a downloadable brochure instead. So read each venue's own list line by line, and do not assume one house standard covers them all. The fourth course on some Goodwood venues varies by fixture, so ask which menu applies to the day you are taking.

Which enclosure will you be in?

Goodwood has three public enclosures, Richmond, Gordon and Lennox, and the enclosure attached to your hospitality decides where you spend the day. During the Qatar Goodwood Festival, Goodwood states that the Richmond Enclosure is only available to Members and their guests, on both its festival page and its racing FAQs. Enclosure transfers are allowed on the day by paying the difference, except into Richmond during the festival.

Gordon is the enclosure Goodwood calls "The Social Hub at the Racecourse": covered seating within the Sussex Stand, the Sussex Bar, the Sip and Saddle Bar, live music, trackside viewing inside the final furlong, Parade and Pre-Parade Ring access, and The Earl's Lawn, which Goodwood describes as exclusive to the Qatar Goodwood Festival. Lennox carries the strapline "Perfect for Families", with a large children's playground, flat grassy picnic spots near the course, great views of the course with covered seating, and live music that Goodwood publishes as exclusive to the Qatar Goodwood Festival.

Dress follows the enclosure, not the festival. The Richmond Enclosure asks gentlemen aged 16 and over for a suit jacket, a long-sleeved collared shirt, a tie and full-length trousers, and does not permit fancy dress or sportswear. Gordon has no formal dress code across all fixtures, though during the festival guests are asked to dress in a smart and elegant manner, and shorts and trainers are permitted. Goodwood's dress-code page sets no hat requirement in any enclosure. Hospitality guests follow the Richmond code by default, with a small number of Sussex Stand venues following the Gordon guidance instead, so ask which applies to your venue before you brief your guests. Is Glorious Goodwood 2027 accessible?

Goodwood publishes complimentary Blue Badge parking at the front of Car Parks 5 and 8, first come first served, with a wheelchair-accessible mobility shuttle buggy running inside Car Park 8. Three raised track viewing platforms sit one per enclosure, and ramps reach the Parade Ring either side of the central Parade Ring Bar, which carry a raised viewing position. Lifts operate in the March and Sussex Grandstands.

Five non-electric wheelchairs are held at the racecourse and are booked in advance free of charge by telephone rather than collected at a gate. Each enclosure has accessible toilets, and the racecourse asks guests to bring their own Radar key, with spares held at Racecourse Reception and stewards carrying keys for anyone without one. Hearing loops are at the East and West Entrances. A complimentary Essential Companion ticket is available to a disabled guest who cannot attend without support, on production of a valid Nimbus Access Card or Goodwood Digital Access Pass carrying the plus-one symbol. Assistance dogs are welcome, with consent applied for in advance.

How do you get to Goodwood Racecourse and back?

Goodwood Racecourse is at Selhurstpark Rd, Chichester, West Sussex, PO18 0PS, up on the Downs. The nearest railway station is Chichester, with trains running regularly from London Victoria and services from Brighton and Portsmouth. A raceday shuttle bus runs between the station's North Car Park and the racecourse at 15 and 45 minutes past the hour, from 10:15 until 13:15.

Taxi pick-up and drop-off is split by enclosure: Gordon and Lennox guests use the East Entrance off Selhurst Park Road, Richmond guests the West Entrance off Kennel Hill Road. Blue Badge parking should be booked with the racecourse in advance. Goodwood Aerodrome takes rotary and fixed-wing aircraft and is arranged with the aerodrome's own control tower. Goodwood publishes no departure-crush advice and no park-and-ride scheme separate from the station shuttle, so the two times worth giving a group are the last return bus, 60 minutes after the final race, and the gates closing at 20:00.
