Stevie Wonder in 2026: the Songs in the Key of Life anniversary tour

Stevie Wonder spends autumn 2026 on the Songs In The Key Of Life Performances, 50th Anniversary Tour, playing his 1976 double album in its entirety. The tour opens at Utilita Arena Birmingham on 13 October 2026, the first night anywhere, then plays Co-op Live in Manchester on 8 November and OVO Hydro in Glasgow on 11 November, the last UK night before the US leg. The tour also plays The Arena London. On the album's 50th birthday, 28 September 2026, he released four recordings from the original sessions that had never come out before, saying "there's still more to hear". Stevie Wonder's recent UK shows

The 2026 dates follow his Love, Light and Song tour of summer 2025, which played Lytham Festival on 3 July, Co-op Live on 5 July, Utilita Arena Birmingham on 7 July and Blackweir Fields in Cardiff on 9 July, before closing BST Hyde Park in London on 12 July 2025. That makes the Birmingham and Manchester nights in 2026 return visits to the same arenas within about 16 months.

Awards and honours

Stevie Wonder has won 25 Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year three times, for Innervisions, Fulfillingness' First Finale and Songs in the Key of Life. I Just Called to Say I Love You won the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 1985 ceremony and was a UK number one for six weeks in 1984. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989, became the second recipient of the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song in 2009, and was named a United Nations Messenger of Peace the same year. He has sold more than 100 million records.

From Saginaw to Motown

He was born Stevland Hardaway Judkins in Saginaw, Michigan, on 13 May 1950, and signed to Motown as a child under the name Little Stevie Wonder. In 1963, aged 13, he topped the US Billboard Hot 100 with Fingertips. In 1980 he recorded Happy Birthday for Hotter Than July as part of the campaign for a US national holiday for Martin Luther King Jr., which was signed into law in 1983. On his 74th birthday, 13 May 2024, he became a citizen of Ghana in a ceremony in Accra. In August 2024 he performed Higher Ground at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
