Events at Etihad Stadium

The venue is primarily known for hosting high-stakes football fixtures, including Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup matches. Iconic fixtures such as Manchester City v Arsenal and Manchester City v Liverpool draw global attention, and the stadium set a record attendance of 60,645 against Bournemouth in August 2026. It has staged a European final before: the 2008 UEFA Cup final between Zenit Saint Petersburg and Rangers drew 43,878 on 14 May 2008, still the record crowd here for a match not involving Manchester City. The stadium also hosted England's final group match at the 2015 Rugby World Cup, and it holds up to 60,000 for concerts.

The redeveloped North Stand is open for the 2026/27 season and carries the name of Pep Guardiola, who stepped down in May 2026 after ten years and 20 major trophies. Enzo Maresca took charge in June 2026, so 2026/27 is the club's first season under a new manager since 2015/16. The scheme adds 7,900 seats and takes capacity past 61,000, along with a 400-room hotel, a Skybar and a covered fan park on the Etihad Campus, which is a confirmed host venue for UEFA Euro 2028.

Champions League at the Etihad Stadium

Manchester City host four league phase matches at the Etihad in the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League: Paris Saint-Germain, Sporting CP, Napoli and AEK Athens. Paris Saint-Germain arrive as two-time defending champions, and 2026/27 is Manchester City's sixteenth consecutive season in the competition. The league phase runs from 8 September 2026 to 27 January 2027, and the final is on Saturday 5 June 2027 at the Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid. UEFA confirms the individual dates and kick-off times when it publishes the fixture list, so nothing is on sale yet. The Pep Guardiola Stand adds a new tier of hospitality for the 2026/27 season. City Hall is a bar behind the goal at Level 0 with padded seats, Crossbar is a Level 1 sports bar themed on the club's goalkeepers, and Zadie's serves Pan-Asian food with balcony seating. Pitch View Rooms are private rooms for twelve guests with their own balcony. In the Colin Bell Stand, The Residence by Etihad is a restaurant led by chef Adam Reid, with live food preparation and private balcony seating.
