Jay-Z and Eminem Both Appear on The Godbody LP. Could a Tour Be Next?

Up in Smoke never crossed the Atlantic. Forty-four shows between 15 June and 20 August 2000, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, and Eminem on one bill, and every last date of it played in the United States or Canada. British fans read about it. That was the whole of the British experience of a rap package tour people are still talking about.

Twenty-six years later, two names from that bill turn up on the same record. Kurupt, who opened the show in 2000. Eminem, who was fourth on it. The record is The Godbody LP, out on 18 September 2026, and the guest list around them reads like a roll call.

So the question arrives on its own, and people are already asking it in search boxes: could this become a tour, and would it finally come here?

Has the Godbody LP tour been announced?

No tour has been announced. Not by Rakim, not by Kurupt, not by Masta Killa, not by Jay-Z, not by Eminem, not by any promoter or venue. As of 11 September 2026, there is no date, no city, no on-sale, no statement. Anyone telling you otherwise is guessing, and some of them are guessing in a way designed to get a click.

What is actually on the album

The Godbody LP is a Rakim, Kurupt and Masta Killa record. Rakim and Nick Wiz produced it, with Nick Price taking track 10. Fifteen tracks on the standard edition, seventeen on the digital deluxe. The lead single, "A Different Kind", was announced on 24 July 2026.

News of it first broke between 7 and 9 June 2026, when the album's A&R and executive producer Matthew "M80" Markoff posted the tracklist to Instagram on Sunday 7 June. Kurupt confirmed the title on his own Instagram on 15 June 2026. The features around the three principals: Snoop Dogg, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Kokane, Daz Dillinger, Killa Sin, Mac Shawn 100, Jamall Ray, Buckshot, Rim, Trigga tha Gambler, KRS-One, Kool G Rap, and then the two names that caused the noise.

Jay-Z and Eminem appear on track 6, "God Speak (Interlude)".

Now the part most sites have skated over

They do not rap on it.

Markoff said so himself, and he said it plainly: "Em and Jay do not have verses on the interlude." It is an interlude, and it is a spoken tribute to Rakim in nature. It is not a song, not a verse trade, not a sequel to anything.

That should not be read as a letdown, and we do not read it as one. Two artists of that size do not lend their voices to a tribute interlude by accident, and the last time they shared a studio credit was "Renegade" on Jay-Z's The Blueprint in 2001. A quarter of a century is a long silence to break for a spoken passage honouring the man who shaped both of them.

One precision point, because the internet has been sloppy with it. You will see "first time in 25 years" attached to this story. It holds for a studio credit only. The two of them performed "Renegade" together live at Yankee Stadium on 11 July 2026, so the stage reunion had already happened before the album arrived.

What history actually tells us

Up in Smoke is the reason this conversation has any weight at all. It proved a multi-headliner rap tour could be staged at scale and sustained across forty-four dates in one summer. Kurupt was on it and so was Eminem, and the two of them being on the same album again is the thread people are pulling.

But that tour ran for one year and stopped, and it never once played Britain or anywhere in Europe. The precedent is a precedent for America.

There is a live precedent much closer to hand. The Jay-Z 30 Tour is real and running, eight shows between 10th July and 24th October 2026. Yankee Stadium took 10th to 12th July. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium hosted on the 4th and 5th September 2026, and those dates have now come and gone, with Dave and Sampha as the London guests rather than Eminem. Stade de France followed on 10 September 2026, and SoFi Stadium closes it out on 23 and 24 October.

Read that carefully; it cuts both ways. Jay-Z will play a London stadium. He has just done it. He did not use it to launch anything connected to this album.

Five artists, five different problems

Say a promoter wanted to build this. Here is the shape of the job.

Rakim, Kurupt, Masta Killa, Jay-Z and Eminem sit in different camps with different teams, different management, different touring economics and no shared history of routing together. Only two of the five were ever on Up in Smoke.

Masta Killa is the immediate complication. Wu-Tang Clan are midway through a genuine farewell run, "Wu-Tang Forever: The Final Chamber", across Europe, including the UK, North America, Oceania and Japan through 2026. Their London date at The Arena London was 17 March 2026; a second date on 18 March was cancelled, and Masta Killa is named in the tour-wide lineup. An artist saying goodbye on one tour is not an obvious candidate to start another.

Jay-Z has his own eight-date run to finish. Kurupt has no 2026 or 2027 dates listed. Rakim has no confirmed UK dates. Eminem, so far as anything verifiable goes, has announced nothing.

And there is no promoter attached to any of this. No promoter, no agent, no venue hold. A tour of this size is many months of work before a poster exists.

The odds of an Up in Smoke Tour, or anything like it, happening again

Low. Not zero, but low.

The strongest argument for it is that the album exists at all and that its guest list is extraordinary. The strongest argument against it is everything else: five camps, one farewell tour already in progress, two of the five with no live schedule at all, a spoken interlude rather than a full collaboration to build a bill on, and nobody in the business attached to making it happen.

If we had to call it, we would say a full five-artist tour is unlikely, and a smaller version built around Rakim, Kurupt and Masta Killa is a more plausible thing to watch for. That is our opinion, and we will be straight about it being one. We could be wrong, and we would be glad to be.

What we will not do is tell you a tour is coming to sell you something, or hint at a venue we have no reason to name.
