SZA is reported to be headlining Coachella 2027, but the festival has not confirmed it. TMZ and Hits Daily Double both named her on 30th October 2026, alongside Dua Lipa and Tame Impala, and SZA then shared the TMZ story on her alternate Instagram account with a caption about working on an album. That is about as loud as a rumour gets without a poster.

As of 4th November 2026: the festival has published no line-up, no artist has been announced by the organisers, and SZA's caption did not mention Coachella by name. The dates are the one solid thing, 9th to 11th April and 16th to 18th April 2027. No SZA album title, album date, tour or UK show has been announced.

My read is that she is on that poster. Below is why I think so, where I could be wrong, and what it might mean for anyone in Britain. If you want the festival basics first, our Coachella hub covers the event itself and our Coachella 2027 page has the weekends in one place.

Is SZA headlining Coachella 2027?

Reportedly, yes. Officially, nobody knows yet. Two outlets with very different reputations landed on the same three names on the same day, and that is what moved this from fan chatter to a serious report. It still falls short of an announcement, and the wording of each report matters.

What TMZ reported

TMZ's exclusive went up on 30th October under the headline "Dua Lipa, SZA and Tame Impala Set to Perform at Coachella 2027: Sources". People "with direct knowledge" told the site that all three were "nearly confirmed", and that the full line-up "will be announced soon". There was no comment in the piece from the organisers or from any of the three acts. "Nearly" is doing a lot of work there, and so is "set to perform", which is not quite the same thing as a named headline slot.

What Hits Daily Double reported

Hits Daily Double, the music industry column that has led this story since September, went further. Under the headline "SZA Saddles Up for Coachella" it said sources had her taking the last top spot, and that she "will occupy the final prime position on the poster". That is the sentence that actually says headliner.

Stereogum's Tom Breihan and Consequence's Alex Young both ran with the story within hours, and Rolling Out summed up the position neatly: "a strong report, not a done deal".

What SZA posted

Then came the part that set fans off. Consequence reported on 31st October that SZA had shared a screenshot of the TMZ report on her alternate Instagram account, with the caption: "Headed to Tahiti to work this album some more."

Consequence's headline said she had "seemingly" confirmed it. That word is fair. Reposting a headline about yourself is not a denial, and people rarely draw attention to a story that is flat wrong without correcting it. But she did not write the word Coachella, and a repost is not a contract.

How the story got here

  • 23rd April 2026: Hits Daily Double publishes a self-described "too early" list of possible 2027 headliners, as mxdwn reported, with Olivia Rodrigo, Radiohead, Blackpink, Dua Lipa and Carin Leon on it.
  • 1st September 2026: Hits Daily Double says Tame Impala and Dua Lipa are expected to headline, with Fred again.. near the foot of the poster. SZA is listed with Oasis and Radiohead as a possibility, and "way more likely than the latter two".
  • 2nd October 2026: the same column says Drake "is said to be in the Coachella discussion", as Complex reported.
  • 5th October 2026: HotNewHipHop describes Drake as a leading candidate, with SZA and Radiohead also under consideration.
  • 30th October 2026: TMZ names SZA, Dua Lipa and Tame Impala as "nearly confirmed", and Hits Daily Double gives SZA the final top spot.
  • 31st October 2026: Consequence reports SZA's Instagram post.

Who else is on the Coachella 2027 bill?

Nobody is, officially. On the reports, the bill is SZA, Dua Lipa and Tame Impala at the top, with Fred again.. in what Consequence calls the "Returning to the Desert" slot lower down. Here is how each name stacks up.

Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa would be the headline debut with the most British interest. Hits Daily Double says she "has never done a full solo set at the event but guested with Martin Garrix back in 2017", which makes this a very big first.

The Sun has reported advanced talks too, and separately reported that she is planning UK stadium dates for summer 2027 around a fourth album. Nothing there is confirmed by Dua Lipa or her team, and our Dua Lipa UK stadium tour 2027 page keeps track of exactly what has been said. Her history here at home is on our Dua Lipa tour hub and her artist page.

Tame Impala

Tame Impala would be the safe pair of hands. Kevin Parker's project headlined in 2019 and played in 2011, 2013 and 2015, so 2027 would be a fifth appearance on the figures in mxdwn and Hits Daily Double. The album Deadbeat came out on 17th October 2025, and the tour behind it has already reached into 2027, with UK arena dates in Manchester and London around the turn of May and June, as the Official Charts Company reported.

There is a fun link between two of the three names as well. In October, Justice released "Flower In A Hurricane" from the Grand Theft Auto VI launch trailer, with Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard all on it. So the two reported headliners with the least in common on paper already share a song.

The acts who reportedly said no

The rejected list is half the fun. TMZ says organisers wanted BTS and Rage Against the Machine, and that both "passed". Hits Daily Double says BTS, Miley Cyrus and Radiohead all appear to have passed. Stereogum called Oasis and Radiohead "pretty big reaches" anyway, which seems right for Oasis at least: our major UK stadium concerts page shows them with a very full British summer of their own in 2027.

Where does that leave Drake?

This needs saying plainly, because our own pages mention him. Our Drake tour 2027 blog and Drake UK tour 2027 page both carry the Hits Daily Double report of 2nd October, and that report was real. HotNewHipHop called him one of the leading candidates three days later.

What has changed is that the newer reports do not name him. Neither TMZ nor Hits Daily Double included Drake on 30th October, and if Hits is right that SZA holds the "final prime position", there is no obvious top spot left. Nobody has ruled him out on the record either, and there has been no statement from him or the festival.

So the honest position is this: Drake was reported to be in the discussion in early October, and the latest reports point elsewhere. Those two things sit together fine. Rumours move.

Drake last headlined Coachella in 2015, and the festival has been known to stretch its top line. The 2026 poster carried four headline names and 2025 gave extra billing to Travis Scott, so a late surprise is not impossible. Either way, the part of the Drake story that matters most for Britain is untouched. He said himself in September that he will tour the world in 2027, and our Drake UK tour hub and artist page cover his record here.

Coachella 2027 dates

Coachella 2027 runs over two weekends, 9th to 11th April and 16th to 18th April 2027, at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. Those dates are not a rumour. Pollstar reported them on 20th April 2026 and NME on 22nd April 2026. Since 2012 the festival has run as two consecutive three-day weekends with the same bill on each, so a headliner on the first Friday is normally back the following week.

The line-up date is the unknown. Pollstar said it could land anywhere from September 2026 to January 2027 based on past years, and NME pointed to October to December. Last year's poster came out in mid-September 2025, so this one is already running later than its predecessor. Hits Daily Double said on 1st September that the announcement was a few weeks away. TMZ says soon. Treat both with patience.

How reliable are these reports?

Late reports have been far better than early ones, and that is the main reason I lean towards yes. On 8th September 2025, Hits Daily Double said Sabrina Carpenter and Karol G were set to lead Coachella 2026, as mxdwn reported the next day. A week later both were on the poster. It did not get everything: it did not name Justin Bieber, and Kendrick Lamar and Dua Lipa, who were floated that year, did not appear at the top of the bill.

Early lists are a different story. Of the five names on that "too early" April 2026 list for this edition, only Dua Lipa is still in the conversation. Olivia Rodrigo, Radiohead, Blackpink and Carin Leon have all fallen out of the reporting. So when a column says early on that it is guessing, believe it. When it names acts close to a poster, and TMZ lands on the same names the same day, pay attention.

Who headlined Coachella in recent years?

Coachella headliners, 2022 to 2026 (source: Wikipedia, read 4th November 2026)
YearHeadliners
2026Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber, Karol G, Anyma
2025Lady Gaga, Green Day, Post Malone, with headline billing for Travis Scott
2024Lana Del Rey, Tyler, the Creator, Doja Cat, plus a No Doubt reunion
2023Bad Bunny, Blackpink, Frank Ocean on the first weekend, Blink-182 in that slot on the second
2022Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, Swedish House Mafia with The Weeknd

The 2026 edition ran on 10th to 12th and 17th to 19th April. Carpenter took the Friday, Bieber the Saturday and Karol G the Sunday, and Anyma also had headline billing. Carpenter's second Friday brought out Madonna for three songs, a moment we touched on in our piece on Madonna's UK plans for 2027. Carpenter's next British move is still a rumour, covered in is Sabrina Carpenter planning a UK stadium tour, whereas Karol G's is real: Karol G plays Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 6th July 2027.

The Coachella top line also runs straight into British festival gossip. Harry Styles and Billie Eilish, both 2022 headliners, are two of the names in the rumour round-up for Glastonbury 2027, which tells you how small the pool of true top-of-the-bill acts really is.

One more piece of history. Rolling Out points out that Beyonce became the first Black woman to headline Coachella in 2018 and that Doja Cat headlined in 2024. SZA would be a first-time headliner, nine years after her last full set there.

Has SZA played Coachella before?

Yes, twice with her own set, in 2016 and 2018, and once as a guest in 2026. Stereogum counts the two full sets, and the coverage from each year backs that up. None of them was a headline slot.

2016: the bucket-list debut

Billboard's live coverage from the first weekend caught SZA telling the crowd she was very nervous and calling the set a bucket-list moment. mxdwn reported on 23rd April 2016 that Isaiah Rashad came out during her set, and that Kendrick Lamar joined her for "Babylon", the song from her album Z that he features on.

2018: Kendrick, a cut set and a promise

Two years later she was on the main Coachella Stage on Friday 13th April 2018, the first weekend, and mxdwn's review has Kendrick joining her for "Doves in the Wind" and "All the Stars". Revolt adds Trippie Redd on "Dark Knight Dummo" and Isaiah Rashad on "Pretty Little Birds". It also says she had to cut the set short, probably because of a late arrival, and that she promised to make it up to fans. If she does headline in 2027, nobody is going to cut her off.

2026: the Bieber moment and a denial

Her most recent Coachella stage time came with some gossip attached. During the first weekend of 2026 a blind item claimed she had been paid to stand by in case Justin Bieber pulled out. SZA shut it down in an Instagram comment reported by Page Six on 12th April: "Lmao who made this up ?" She added: "No one paid me a dime. Wishing everyone the best."

Six days after that report she was on stage with him anyway. SPIN reported that SZA joined Bieber's headline set on Saturday 18th April for an acoustic "Snooze", the song they had already teamed up on after SOS came out. So she has now stood on the Coachella Stage during a headline set. The question is whether her own name goes on top next time.

SZA new album: what we know

A new SZA album is clearly being made, but it has no announced title or release date. Her last studio album, SOS, came out on 9th December 2022 and reached number two in the UK. Lana, the expanded version with 15 extra tracks including "Saturn", followed on 20th December 2024. Next month it will be four years since SOS, which is an age in pop.

The evidence for something new comes in three pieces. First, the Tahiti caption, which says "this album" in plain words. Second, Complex posted "SZA and Pharrell in the studio" on 5th October, and Capital XTRA reported on the snippets and studio photos doing the rounds. Third, Capital XTRA picked up a burner account reply on 6th October. A fan wrote "Please say you'll return this winter." SZA answered: "Indeed, I shall."

Capital XTRA read that as a project that "could arrive by the end of the year", and that is the outlet's reading of a three-word reply, not a date. A trip to Tahiti to keep working on it does not exactly scream finished, either. It remains unclear whether Pharrell is producing, featuring or something else.

My read: Coachella and the album are one plan. Headliners like to arrive with something new, Consequence has already made the same point about Dua Lipa, and an April slot is a natural deadline. If a record lands between now and spring, the headline story looks a lot more solid. If April comes around with no album, she would be headlining on SOS, Lana and that stadium tour, which is hardly a thin set.

SZA tour 2027: is one coming?

No SZA tour has been announced for 2027. Any site showing you a list of SZA tour dates right now is guessing. One page I checked carried a story about a world tour at the end of 2027 and then added its own note saying the story seems to be false, which tells you how much weight these things can bear.

Her most recent tour was the biggest of her life. The Grand National Tour with Kendrick Lamar opened in Minneapolis on 19th April 2025, closed in Sydney on 11th December 2025 and, according to Wikipedia's figures, drew about 2 million people to become the highest-grossing co-headline tour on record.

Before that she had posted on 5th August 2024: "Yesterday was my last show for a while." The Grand National Tour opened about eight months later, which is a nice reminder not to read too much into a single post from SZA, in either direction, including the Tahiti one.

Could Kendrick be part of it? None of the 2027 reports I read links him to Coachella, and his name came up only in the 2026 rumour round. SZA's solo tour would be a separate story from their joint run. For his side of things see his artist page, and for the wider scene our hip hop and R&B tours hub lists what is on the UK calendar.

SZA UK dates: what is known, and my prediction

No SZA UK dates have been announced for 2027. I can find no report of a UK show, stadium night or festival slot. Everything after the list below is my own prediction, not reporting.

Her recent British record is excellent, though, and she has been back every summer for three years:

The Glastonbury question

That 2024 Glastonbury set still divides people. She was one of two women headlining the Pyramid Stage that year, with Dua Lipa on the Friday, which Wikipedia describes as a first. The Evening Standard's review landed on a verdict that sums up the wider response: "SZA put on a great show, but if she was the right choice to close Glastonbury is another matter." The crowd was smaller than the two nights before it, and plenty of the talk at the time was about that rather than the show.

A Coachella headline would be a neat answer to that. As for going back to Worthy Farm next June, I would not hold your breath. Our Glastonbury 2027 headliners piece has the latest, our Glastonbury 2027 page has the dates, and the Glastonbury Festival hub has the background. Emily Eavis says all three headliners are signed, and no report I have read puts SZA among them.

BST Hyde Park and the stadium option

Prediction time, clearly labelled. I think a UK visit in 2027 is more likely than not, if the album arrives by spring. A Coachella run ends on 18th April, which leaves the whole British summer open, and that is the same logic behind the reported Dua Lipa stadium dates. An album plus a festival headline usually goes on the road.

The shape is harder to call. London's stadium calendar is filling up, as the major UK stadium concerts list shows. A solo stadium run would be a big step, since her UK stadium nights so far have been shared with Kendrick. So I would look at arenas, as in 2023, or a one-off park show.

BST Hyde Park is the obvious fit for that second option: Sabrina Carpenter drew 65,000 to Hyde Park on the second of her two nights in July 2025. I have seen no report linking SZA with BST, so please read that as a guess about what would suit her and nothing more.

And the case against? She has taken long gaps before, the album has been a long time coming, and a late record would push everything back into autumn or 2028. If nothing is announced by the time the poster drops, I would start to doubt a 2027 UK run.

What to watch next

  • The poster. Until it appears, every name in this article, SZA included, is reported and not confirmed.
  • An album title or single. That would give the Tahiti caption some real weight.
  • Word on Drake. If he appears on the poster as well, it would be a fourth top name, and we will update his pages.
  • Any summer dates in Britain from SZA or Dua Lipa, which would likely follow the festival news quite quickly.

For the festival itself, including why British groups look at the trip in the first place, head to our Coachella 2027 page.
