The Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift opens its 2027 edition in Britain, running from Leeds on Friday 30 July to a finish on The Mall in London on Sunday 1 August. It is the sixth edition of the race and the first time it has raced on British roads. ASO’s route detail confirms three stages: 87.5km from Leeds to Manchester, 154.4km from Manchester to Sheffield, and a team time trial of about 18km around central London, which will be the first team time trial in the history of the Tour de France Femmes.
When is the Tour de France Femmes in Britain?
Friday 30 July to Sunday 1 August 2027, four weeks after the men's British stages rather than alongside them. The two races share a host nation in 2027, which the official host committee states has never happened outside France before, but they do not share a weekend.
Stage 1: Leeds to Manchester, Friday 30 July
The race starts on The Headrow in central Leeds and covers 87.5km to a finish on Deansgate in Manchester. It is the shortest road stage of the six British stages by a wide margin, and short stages in this race tend to be fast rather than gentle: less distance means fewer places to hide and a bunch that stays together longer.
Leeds is a deliberate choice rather than a convenient one. The city led the 2014 men's Grand Départ, and the official evaluation of that event, written by eventIMPACTS and led by Leeds City Council with UK Sport, Welcome to Yorkshire, Transport for London and TdFHUB2014 Ltd, recorded around £102 million of economic impact for Yorkshire and more than £128 million across all host areas.
Stage 2: Manchester to Sheffield, Saturday 31 July
The hard one. 154.4km from Manchester across the Peak District to a finish on Attercliffe Common in Sheffield, with close to 3,000 metres of climbing according to the host committee, and Cyclist identifying Snake Pass and Winnats Pass on the way. That is a serious amount of climbing for a stage of that length, and it is the day most likely to break the race apart rather than deliver a sprint.
It also makes Manchester the only host location on either route with two consecutive race days, having hosted the previous evening’s finish on Deansgate.
Stage 3: the London team time trial, Sunday 1 August
About 18km on a central London circuit, finishing on The Mall, ridden in teams of seven. ASO confirms it as the first team time trial in the race's history, and British Cycling announced it on 22 April 2026, with Cyclingnews and Cycling Weekly reporting it the same week.
A team time trial changes what the day looks like for anyone watching. Teams set off at intervals rather than as one field, so instead of a single pass lasting under a minute, the racing is spread over an afternoon and a fixed spot on the circuit sees every team come through. The detailed circuit has not been published; British Cycling said in April 2026 that it would follow later in the year, and it had still not appeared by 30 July 2026.
Why does a first-ever team time trial matter?
Because it is a discipline the race has never held. Every previous edition has been decided over road stages alone, so putting a team effort against the clock in London on the closing day of a Grand Départ adds a format the Tour de France Femmes has no history in, in front of a city-centre crowd.
Watching the women's Grand Départ
All three stages are covered by the free-to-air agreement announced on 17 June 2026, which puts live coverage of every British stage on Channel 5. Standing at the roadside is free and needs no ticket, as it is on any public-road stage.
Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield sit close enough together that a Friday finish and a Saturday start can be seen from one base, which is not true of the Edinburgh to Cardiff spread on the men’s route. Four weeks apart. The men's stages run 2 to 4 July 2027 and the women's run 30 July to 1 August 2027. They are separately branded races with separate routes, so anyone planning to see both is planning two trips.
