No, U2 have not confirmed a single UK date for 2027. Not one. The band announced their new stadium world tour, Carnaval De Luz Presents: The Greatest Show On Earth, on 15 October 2026, and every night confirmed so far is in Mexico City, São Paulo or Buenos Aires, with European and North American dates promised 'in the coming weeks'.
Last updated: 22 October 2026.
Here's the tea. Since that announcement the schedule has grown by exactly one show, and it isn't in Britain. On 21 October U2 added a third night at Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City, on Sunday 28 February 2027. That makes seven stadium dates across three countries and not a single British postcode.
So what does 'in the coming weeks' actually promise? A European leg, yes. A London stadium, a Manchester night or a date in Cardiff, no, not until U2 say so. My read, which I'll unpack below, is that UK dates are likely to surface before Christmas and that summer 2027 is the obvious window. That is a read, not a fact, and I'll keep the two apart all the way down this page, because on a story like this the gap between them is exactly where people waste money.
What have U2 actually confirmed for 2027?
Here is everything on the record as of today. The tour takes its name from the new single, 'The Greatest Show On Earth', which came out on the same day as the announcement. It opens at Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City on 23 February 2027, with Beck supporting on the Latin American run, and the band have said Mexico City, São Paulo and Buenos Aires are the only Latin American cities on the 2027 schedule.
| Date | City | Venue |
|---|---|---|
| 23 February 2027 | Mexico City | Estadio GNP Seguros |
| 26 February 2027 | Mexico City | Estadio GNP Seguros |
| 28 February 2027 | Mexico City | Estadio GNP Seguros |
| 10 March 2027 | São Paulo | Estádio MorumBIS |
| 12 March 2027 | São Paulo | Estádio MorumBIS |
| 23 March 2027 | Buenos Aires | Estadio River Plate |
| 25 March 2027 | Buenos Aires | Estadio River Plate |
Beck is confirmed for the Latin American nights and nothing more. Nobody has said who opens in Europe, and I wouldn't assume he carries on. In 2017 the London support was Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, a very British pick for a very British crowd. Would the band go local again? Nobody has said, and I'd wait until it's on U2's own site before guessing.
Two more lines from the announcement matter to anyone reading this in Britain. Additional 2027 dates for Europe and North America are to be announced in the coming weeks, and plans for the band's return home to Ireland are, in U2's words, in the works. The UK is not mentioned. Not a city, not a month, not a season.
The band certainly sounded like they meant business. 'If people are gonna show up, we certainly are,' Bono, Edge, Adam and Larry said in the announcement on U2.com, calling the show 'a dare, to ourselves as much as anyone'. Consequence counted it as U2's first world tour in eight years. Since the Joshua Tree stadium run finished in 2019, the live story has been the Las Vegas Sphere residency and, this year, a steady drip of new music.
Ireland already has its own guessing game going. Writing in the Irish Examiner on 15 October, Des O'Driscoll predicted that 'speculation will inevitably follow' about where the band's next Irish appearance lands, and noted that their last full Irish gig was at 3Arena in 2018. He was right about the speculation, and Britain has caught the same bug.
Carnaval De Luz: the record this whole circus is built around
Tours like this exist to carry an album, and this one is close. Carnaval De Luz is U2's 16th studio album and their first in nine years, out on 13 November 2026. 'The Greatest Show On Earth' is the third single, after 'Silencio' and 'Street of Dreams'. Brian Eno co-wrote it, Anton Corbijn directed the video in the Californian desert, and the clip sends the band up as a religious cult. Self-aware, or a very long joke? Probably both, and I mean that as a compliment.
It has been a busier year than U2 years tend to be. In February they released Days of Ash, a six-track EP produced by Jacknife Lee that came out on Ash Wednesday, 18 February. Its closing track, 'Yours Eternally', features Ed Sheeran and Taras Topolia. A second six-track EP, Easter Lily, followed in April. In September the band marked 50 years since forming in Dublin in 1976, and the Central Bank of Ireland issued a commemorative coin for the anniversary. MusiCares has also named U2 its 2027 Persons of the Year, for what it called five decades of musical achievement and humanitarian service.
Why does any of that matter to a UK tour? Because a band does not release its 16th album, name a world tour after the lead single, promise Europe and then skip one of its biggest markets. The European leg is the part of this I'm most confident about. Which British cities, and on which nights, is where the certainty stops dead.
The rumour mill: what's real and what's fan fiction?
Rumour has been running ahead of the band for months, and most of it has nowhere to stand. The band's own account is simply that an Irish homecoming is being planned. No Irish venue, no date, and anyone naming a Dublin stadium for 2027 is getting ahead of U2. That includes Croke Park, where they played three nights in 2009 and one in 2017. The history is real. A 2027 date there is not, or at least not yet.
My test is simple. If a UK date is real, it will appear on U2's own channels and on the venue's own events listing at the same moment. If a page gives you a London date and cites nobody, it is guessing. The same goes for anyone quoting UK hospitality prices for this tour right now: with no venue named, there is nothing to price, and I haven't given a figure here for exactly that reason.
What is fair to say? A London stadium is the obvious anchor, because U2 played two London stadium nights on each of their last two UK stadium tours, in 2009 and 2017. Beyond London, past form points to Glasgow and Cardiff, but past form is all it is. I have seen nothing credible naming a second UK city for 2027, and I've looked.
So when could UK dates drop?
Soon, probably. Nobody outside the band's camp knows exactly. 'In the coming weeks' was written on 15 October, and the album arrives on 13 November, which is just the kind of moment a band likes to fill with news. If you made me pick a window, I'd say European dates land somewhere between now and the end of the year, quite possibly around the album release. I wouldn't plan a group around that guess, though.
The last stadium tour gives a useful precedent. The Joshua Tree 2017 tour was announced on 9 January 2017, the general sale for Europe followed a week later, and the two London nights came on 8 and 9 July. Six months from announcement to the first London show. Put the same gap in front of a summer 2027 leg and you arrive, roughly, at now.
And why summer? The Latin American run ends at Estadio River Plate on 25 March 2027. Outdoor stadium shows in Britain are a summer business, and U2's 2009 and 2017 UK stadium dates fell in July and August. That is inference from routing and history, nothing more. If the band announce a spring arena run instead, I'll have been wrong, and I'll say so right here.
Ireland is the other clue. A Dublin homecoming is the one European show the band have talked about, even if only as plans in the works. On both previous stadium tours the Dublin dates sat in the same summer stretch as the British ones: late July 2009, about three weeks before London, and 22 July 2017, a fortnight after it. If a Dublin date appears first, I'd expect the UK dates to sit within a few weeks of it.
U2 in UK stadiums: the receipts
The history is worth knowing, because it shows how U2 tend to route through Britain. On the U2 360° Tour in 2009 they played London on 14 and 15 August, and the stadium recorded a crowd of 88,000 on the first night, a record for a music event there. Glasgow's Hampden Park followed on 18 August, Sheffield's Don Valley Stadium on 20 August and Cardiff's Millennium Stadium, now the Principality Stadium, on 22 August. That is the same stadium hosting Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua on 11 December 2026, for anyone keeping a tally of big nights in Cardiff. Two years later, on 24 June 2011, U2 headlined Glastonbury at Worthy Farm in Somerset during the same tour.

In 2017 the Joshua Tree anniversary tour brought them back for two London stadium nights on 8 and 9 July, with Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds supporting, before 80,901 people saw them at Croke Park in Dublin on 22 July. The following year they went indoors: the eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE tour played arenas in Manchester, London, Belfast and Dublin in October and November 2018, including The Arena, London.
| Date | City | Tour |
|---|---|---|
| 24, 25 and 27 July 2009 | Dublin (Croke Park) | U2 360° |
| 14 and 15 August 2009 | London | U2 360° |
| 18 August 2009 | Glasgow (Hampden Park) | U2 360° |
| 20 August 2009 | Sheffield (Don Valley Stadium) | U2 360° |
| 22 August 2009 | Cardiff (Millennium Stadium) | U2 360° |
| 8 and 9 July 2017 | London | The Joshua Tree 2017 |
| 22 July 2017 | Dublin (Croke Park) | The Joshua Tree 2017 |
Look at the pattern and it practically draws itself: Dublin and London as the twin pillars, then a quick lap of the other home nations. Nine years on, nobody should assume the same map. But if a 2027 list appears with no London on it, that would be the genuine shock of the year.
The 2017 shows played The Joshua Tree album in full, so this song was in every set. It is also the one most people picture when they think of U2 in a stadium, lights up, crowd roaring before the first verse has even started.
Announcement to first night: how U2's last four tours actually rolled out
Want a clue to how 2027 plays out? Read the paper trail. U2 have habits, and on the last four tours they have been fairly predictable ones.
2009: U2 360°
The 360° tour was revealed on 9 March 2009. The European leg opened at Camp Nou in Barcelona on 30 June and closed in Cardiff on 22 August, which put the first London night, 14 August, a little over five months after the announcement. U2.com subscribers got first go before the public sale, and the European support list read like a festival poster: Glasvegas, Elbow, Kaiser Chiefs, Snow Patrol and the Black Eyed Peas.
2015: Innocence + Experience
Announced on 3 December 2014, this one was an arena tour, and London took the lion's share: eight nights at The Arena, London between 18 October and 6 November 2015, seen by 104,913 people between them. Glasgow, Belfast and Dublin followed in November. That is more than ten months from announcement to the first London night.
2018: eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE
This one arrived in waves. North American dates were announced on 1 November 2017. European dates followed on 16 January 2018, with the public sale on 26 January, and the Dublin and Belfast shows got their own announcement on 29 January, with two more Dublin nights added the next day. Manchester then hosted four arena nights from 12 October 2018, London two on 20 and 23 October, and Belfast two on 24 and 27 October.
Add the 2017 tour, announced in January for July, and the pattern is plain. U2 announce in stages, and Ireland sometimes gets a moment of its own. Five to eleven months from announcement to the first British night is their normal range. With 2027 dates promised only for 'the coming weeks', a British summer still sits comfortably inside that window.
What might a 2027 U2 stadium show actually look like?
U2 do not do modest stages. The 360° tour put the band in the round under a four-legged steel structure nicknamed The Claw, about 50 metres high, with a cylindrical video screen, and over the whole run it played to 7,272,046 people. The 2017 Joshua Tree show used a screen 61 metres wide and 14 metres high, built from 1,040 LED panels and billed at the time as the largest, highest-resolution video screen of any concert tour.
The 2015 arena show went another way: a 29-metre double-sided screen hung above a walkway between the main stage and a circular B-stage, and the band walked around inside it. Then came Sphere, where the building itself was the screen. Nobody has said what the Carnaval De Luz stage looks like. Given the name, I'd be amazed if it were subtle.
And the songs? Here's my guess, labelled as one. The tour is named after 'The Greatest Show On Earth', so expect that. 'Silencio' and 'Street of Dreams' came out first, so I'd expect at least one of them too. In 2017 the band played The Joshua Tree in album order, all 11 songs, between an opening run of older hits on the B-stage and an encore that took in 'Beautiful Day', 'Elevation', 'Vertigo' and 'One'. Nobody has said Carnaval De Luz gets the same treatment, and I wouldn't assume it.
For a client night, a production that size changes where you want to sit. With a screen that big, a raised side view can beat the floor. Our guide to concert hospitality in London explains how a big stadium night usually runs for a group, from arrival to the last encore.
The Sphere years, and the return of Larry Mullen Jr
Between the stadium tours came something completely different. U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere opened the new Las Vegas venue on 29 September 2023 and ran for 40 shows until 2 March 2024, selling about 663,000 tickets. The band played Achtung Baby across the inside of a giant LED dome. Almost nobody in Britain saw it in person, because it never left Las Vegas.

The other talking point from the Sphere run was the drum stool. Larry Mullen Jr sat the residency out, and the Dutch drummer Bram van den Berg filled in, the first time since 1978 that U2 had played without him. Coverage of the 2027 announcement, including Consequence, reports his return on drums as one of the headline features of the tour.
For a UK audience, I think that matters more than any production trick. A stadium night with all four original members back on stage is the version of U2 most British fans grew up with, and the version a lot of them haven't seen since 2017. That alone will shift the mood around any British announcement.
Can't wait until 2027? U2 and the NFL on 25 November
If you want to see U2 live before 2027, there is one confirmed date left this year, and it is not in Britain. On Wednesday 25 November 2026 the band headline halftime at the NFL's first Thanksgiving Eve game, the Green Bay Packers at the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, streamed on Netflix. Kick-off is 8pm Eastern Time, which is 1am on Thursday 26 November in the UK. We have the details on our U2 Thanksgiving Eve event page.
It is a return of sorts. U2 played the Super Bowl XXXVI halftime show in New Orleans on 3 February 2002, when the New England Patriots beat the St. Louis Rams 20 to 17. The set was 'Beautiful Day', 'MLK' and 'Where the Streets Have No Name', with the names of the victims of the 11 September attacks projected inside the Louisiana Superdome. The NFL itself now calls it 'one of the most memorable moments in Super Bowl history'. I wouldn't argue.
If American football in person is more your thing than a 1am stream, our guide to the NFL international games in Europe covers the games played closer to home.
A crowded British summer: who has already claimed the big stadiums?
Here's the twist. The summer of 2027 is filling up, and U2 aren't on the list yet. Oasis announced Live '27 on 14 September 2026, and in the UK it means five nights at Celtic Park in Glasgow from 21 May, eleven at the Etihad Stadium between 4 and 26 June, and four at Knebworth in September, with Richard Ashcroft as special guest at every show. Our Oasis Live '27 guide has the full run.
Then there's a Dublin subplot. Fontaines D.C. close a five-date outdoor run at London Stadium on Friday 9 July 2027, with Little Simz and Viagra Boys in support. Two Dublin bands, one British summer. Nobody on either side has called it a rivalry. Give it time.
What does that mean for U2? Nothing official. But the Etihad is spoken for through most of June, so if the band head north I'd look at July or at another city. That is my reading of a calendar, not a leak, and I'll happily eat it if the dates say otherwise.
If I were planning a client night for U2 in 2027
Here is what I'd do now, with no UK venue named. Decide which city works for your guests, because a London night and a Cardiff night are very different logistics for a client list spread across the country. Get a rough headcount and a budget agreed internally. Then register your interest with us, so that when the European dates are published we can talk you through the hospitality the named stadium actually runs, rather than a guess.
Watch which nights of the week get announced, too. In 2009 the two London shows fell on a Friday and a Saturday; in 2017, on a Saturday and a Sunday. For a client night a Friday is usually the easiest yes, and a Sunday, with work the next morning, the hardest. If there's a choice of nights in London, that's where I'd start.
What I wouldn't do is spend a penny on flights or hotels on the strength of a rumoured date. If the summer window is right, there will be time once the band confirm it. If it's wrong, you'll have paid for a weekend in a city U2 aren't visiting, and that is a very expensive way to listen to The Joshua Tree in a hotel room.
In the meantime, the winter calendar has plenty of big music nights in Britain. Heart Christmas Live 2026 with Leona Lewis and Mariah Carey in Manchester both have pages with us, and if your group is weighing up stadium pop for 2027 as well as rock, we've also looked at whether a Sabrina Carpenter UK stadium tour is on the way.
The moment U2 put a British city on that list, I'll update this page with the date, the venue and the hospitality that venue runs. If you forced me to name one night today, it would be a London Saturday in July. I'd still want to see it on U2's own site before anyone so much as checks a train time.
Frequently Asked Questions
As of 22 October 2026, U2 have confirmed seven Latin American stadium shows: three at Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City (23, 26 and 28 February 2027, the third added on 21 October), two in São Paulo and two at Estadio River Plate in Buenos Aires, closing on 25 March. No UK city has been named.
U2 said on 15 October 2026 that European dates would be announced in the coming weeks, but gave no exact date. My read is that they arrive before the end of 2026, possibly around the release of Carnaval De Luz on 13 November, though that is an estimate, not a confirmed plan.
The album is Carnaval De Luz, U2's 16th studio album and their first in nine years, released on 13 November 2026. Its third single, 'The Greatest Show On Earth', was co-written with Brian Eno and gives the 2027 tour its name.
Coverage of the 15 October 2026 announcement, including Consequence and uDiscover Music, lists Larry Mullen Jr back on drums. He sat out the 2023 and 2024 Sphere residency in Las Vegas, when Bram van den Berg filled in.
U2's last UK stadium shows were two nights in London on 8 and 9 July 2017, on the Joshua Tree anniversary tour, with Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds supporting. They returned to UK arenas, including Manchester, London and Belfast, in October 2018.
No UK venue has been confirmed, but U2 played two London stadium nights on both their 2009 and 2017 tours, which makes London the likeliest anchor. Glasgow, Sheffield and Cardiff all hosted them in 2009, though nothing credible names any of them for 2027.
Yes, we can take your group's details for the 2027 tour now, before any UK venue is announced, and talk you through the named stadium's hospitality once dates are confirmed. Register your interest online with your numbers and preferred city, or call 0333 305 5377.
