When do Deacon Blue play Glasgow in 2027?

Deacon Blue play three nights at Glasgow's OVO Hydro on Friday 29, Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 October 2027, the last three dates of Raintown, The 40th Anniversary UK and Ireland Tour. Glasgow, where the band formed in 1985, is the only city on the tour with three nights, and the Sunday is the final show of the whole run. Doors open at 6.30pm each night.

Friday was the original Glasgow date. In September 2026 Deacon Blue added the Saturday "due to phenomenal demand", then the Sunday "due to incredible demand". That takes the Raintown tour to 18 UK and Ireland shows in 15 cities from 6 October. The band's 15-date arena tour of 2025 also ended at the Hydro, with two Glasgow shows in October.

Each night the band play Raintown, their debut album from May 1987, in full. In their words, that is "followed by a second set featuring songs from across our career". Earlier in the month the tour plays Liverpool on Saturday 9 October and Manchester on Friday 22 October.

Which Glasgow night should you choose?

Friday 29 October, the original date, suits a client evening at the end of the week or a team night out. Saturday 30 October, the first added night, works for friends travelling in, with Sunday to get home. Sunday 31 October, Halloween, is the tour's last show, with a working Monday after it, so it suits a group based near Glasgow. Every night follows the same format: Raintown in full, then a second set.

What hospitality does the OVO Hydro offer on the Deacon Blue nights?

At the OVO Hydro, a party of up to 16 can have a private Executive Suite. For couples and small groups, the venue's listing for the three Deacon Blue nights names two premium seating areas: the Terrace, at the front of Level 2, and the Nest, on Level 3. All three are the venue's own spaces.

Executive Suites

Each suite holds up to 16 guests, who watch from private balcony seating with a dedicated host looking after them for the evening. Suite guests also get complimentary hospitality parking, and the venue lists a drinks service. The Hydro leases its suites by the year and also hires them out for selected individual events.

The Terrace

For the Deacon Blue nights, the venue's listing places the Terrace's reserved, raised seats at the front of Level 2 and adds fast-track entry through the Hydro Club entrance. A welcome drink comes with each Terrace ticket, and staff serve food, drinks and merchandise at the seat, with anything after that first drink paid for on the night. The venue's seating guide says Terrace guests still come in at the standard doors time. The Terrace is reached by stairs.

The Nest

The Nest sits on Level 3 and offers two kinds of seat: low banquette sofas in Row A and raised high seats in Row B. Nest tickets include fast-track entry through the Hydro Club entrance and access to the Capital Starsuite and Clubhouse lounges before and after the show. Like the Terrace, it is reached by stairs.

Alcoholic drinks in any of these spaces are served to over-18s only, and ID may be asked for. If you have seen the Sky VIP Lounge mentioned, the venue lists it only as a partner lounge and publishes no booking details for it. Is the Hydro's premium seating step-free?

The Terrace and the Nest are not step-free. The OVO Hydro's listing for these nights says both are reached by stairs and may not suit guests with accessible requirements, and that Level 3, where the Nest sits, is accessible by stairs only. For guests who cannot manage stairs, the venue says the Hydro Club has lifts of its own, running from the ground floor up to the club's bar, restaurant and suite areas.

The listing also warns that some areas of Levels 2 and 3 may not suit those with mobility difficulties, those not comfortable with heights or those who experience vertigo. The OVO Hydro guide sets out the rest of the arena's access provision, from its wheelchair spaces and Changing Places facilities to accessible booking.

What time do doors open at the Hydro, and when does the show start?

Doors open at 6.30pm on all three Glasgow nights, according to the OVO Hydro, which adds that "event timings issued are a guideline only and may be earlier or later than originally published". No stage times have been published yet: the venue says showtimes will be updated once the promoter confirms them. As of 25 September 2026, no support act had been announced for the Glasgow shows.

The closest guide to the length of the evening is the band's 2025 tour, when the Hydro listed doors at 6.30pm, an event start at 7.30pm and an event finish at 10.30pm, with a special guest on the bill. No start or finish time has been published for 2027.

Can children come to the Deacon Blue Glasgow shows?

Yes, within the OVO Hydro's rule for these three nights: over-8s only, with anyone under 16 accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over. The venue recommends that children under 14 stay out of standing areas at any event. The Deacon Blue listing does not say whether the floor will be standing or seated, so a party with a child under 14 should plan on seats.

The venue also says the Terrace's high seats may not suit small children, and it offers booster seats, which you ask for on the night.

How do you get to the OVO Hydro, and home again?

The train is the simplest way in. The OVO Hydro has its own station, Exhibition Centre, a three-minute ride from Glasgow Central's low-level Platform 17, with six trains an hour. Executive Suite guests have the venue's hospitality parking, and everyone else driving in uses the campus multi-storey on Stobcross Road.

• The address is OVO Hydro, SEC, Glasgow G3 8YW. The arena, formerly the SSE Hydro, stands on the Scottish Event Campus next to the SEC Armadillo and the SEC Centre.
• Glasgow Taxis has a pick-up and drop-off point outside the SEC Armadillo, and there are taxi ranks at Glasgow Central, Queen Street and Buchanan Bus Station.
• The venue's travel pages give no late-train guidance. In 2025 the Hydro listed a 10.30pm finish for the band's shows, so anyone travelling beyond Glasgow should check last trains nearer the date.
