Newmarket Racecourse

Newmarket Racecourse, run by The Jockey Club, has two courses: the Rowley Mile and the July Course, where its summer concerts, Newmarket Nights, are held. One Newmarket Nights ticket covers racing and then a headline concert, and the course says the July Course "welcomes up to 22,000 customers per event" when sold out. Only one paid area is sold for its view of the stage: the Prime Viewing Platform, about 40 metres from the stage and directly opposite it.

What hospitality is there at Newmarket Racecourse?

Newmarket Racecourse hospitality depends on which course your fixture is on. The Rowley Mile holds the Private Boxes and the Champions Gallery restaurant. The July Course, home of Newmarket Nights, holds the Trackside Pavilions, the Summer House Restaurant, the Rose Terrace and the Champions Lawn.

• Trackside VIP Experience (Trackside Pavilions, July Course): a champagne reception, a four-course set meal and a complimentary bar, plus full afternoon tea, which the course does not serve at evening meetings. Alcohol is served to over-18s only, and ID may be required.
• Other Trackside Pavilion packages (July Course): the course also names the Trackside Shared VIP Experience, Bubbly Brunch, the Premier Experience and the Classic Experience, which accommodates up to 360 guests. Any alcohol in these packages is served to over-18s only, and ID may be required.
• Summer House Restaurant (Premier Enclosure, July Course): each party has its own private table for the day.
• The Rose Terrace (July Course): an open-air dining terrace the course opened in June 2023, with views down the track, also available for private hire. Its page does not mention concerts.
• Private Boxes (Rowley Mile): on the fourth floor of the Millennium Grandstand, so they are not on the course where the concerts take place.
• Champions Gallery (Rowley Mile): a restaurant on the Rowley Mile, not the July Course.

Conferences and private events at the Rowley Mile

Away from racedays, Newmarket's venue-hire site lists event spaces at the Rowley Mile for groups from 20 guests up to 550 in Exhibition Hall One, with the Millennium Suite taking up to 400.

What are Newmarket Nights?

Newmarket Nights are the summer music fixtures on Newmarket Racecourse's July Course: a card of racing first, then a full headline concert. One ticket covers both, and the course's live music FAQ says so directly: "The ticket/s you purchase will include the racing and the concert. We do not offer a concert only ticket." Two acts are listed for 2027 so far, on two different formats: Olly Murs on Friday 25 June follows evening racing, with the concert listed at about 9pm to 10:30pm, and Simply Red on Saturday 21 August follows racing listed from 1:33pm. The Jockey Club said more than 60,000 racing and music fans came to its Newmarket summer music fixtures in 2025.

Simply Red's date, Saturday 21 August 2027, is billed "Simply Red Live After Racing". The course's event page lists gates at 11:33am, the first race at 1:33pm, the last race at 5:35pm and the concert from about 6pm to 8:45pm, all subject to change. On those timings the racing runs through the afternoon and the concert follows straight after. When the racing ends, the gates between the three enclosures open in stages, and most guests move into the Premier Enclosure to stand and watch the show.

Which Newmarket hospitality has a view of the concert stage?

At Newmarket Nights the stage stands in the Premier Enclosure between Stands 2 and 3, and the concert area in front of it is standing only, with no reserved seating. The course sells one area for its view of the stage: the Prime Viewing Platform, a raised upgrade about 40 metres away and directly opposite it.

• Prime Viewing Platform: raised, "approx. 40 m from the stage (directly opposite the stage)". It is an upgrade for Newmarket Nights, not an admission ticket.
• Champions Lawn: an upgrade on a Premier Enclosure ticket, with table service and private toilets. The course calls the concert view "limited", with a large screen opposite the facility, and guests may leave the lawn to join the Premier Enclosure.
• Trackside Pavilions: the course says guests can "enjoy one of our popular music nights from the comfort of your pavilions own exclusive decking area". It does not describe the stage as visible from the decking.
• Mozart's Bistro: an open-air restaurant in the Premier Enclosure with no direct view of the track or the stage.
• Summer House Restaurant: its page on the racecourse site does not mention concerts.

Racing and awards at Newmarket Racecourse

The Jockey Club dates organised racing in Newmarket to the Town Plate, whose rules Charles II set out in 1665 and which was first run in October 1666. Alongside its February 2026 excellence rating, the course won two Racecourse Association Excellence Accolades, for Warmest Welcome and Staff Customer Service. What should you wear to Newmarket Racecourse?

Newmarket Racecourse has no formal dress code. Its guidance is to come "dressed to feel your best". Fancy dress is welcome unless it is vulgar or derogatory, though team kits should not be worn. On a concert night most areas, including the stage viewing, are open to the elements, and umbrellas are not allowed during the concert.

How do you get to the July Course and the Rowley Mile?

The two courses have different postcodes, so check which course your fixture is on: CB8 0XE for the July Course, where Newmarket Nights are held, and CB8 0TF for the Rowley Mile. By rail, Newmarket station is the stop for the July Course, and a free shuttle bus runs from the station and the High Street, starting two hours before the first race and running again from the last race until the venue is clear. On music nights the course also runs subsidised return coaches from Cambridge station, Royston station, Bury St Edmunds, Ely and Soham, leaving 30 minutes after the concert finishes from outside Gate 2.

By road, the course's directions run from junction 9 of the M11 onto the A11 towards Newmarket, then the A1304. Car parking at the racecourse is free, and so is coach parking, with coaches entering through Gate 4 off the Cambridge Road (A1303). After a sell-out concert, the course asks drivers to allow up to two hours to leave the car parks. Taxis and private hire pick up at Gate 2, in the White car park outside Premier Entrance 1.

What accessibility support does Newmarket offer?

Newmarket Racecourse has accessible viewing platforms on both courses, and for music events these platforms must be pre-booked because space on them is capped. A qualifying visitor's personal assistant goes free once the visitor has bought their own ticket, and the course asks for applications at least five working days before the event. Assistance dogs are admitted free, there are accessible toilets, and Blue Badge parking is available in the Premier and public car parks, with a buggy service.
