About

Coachella 2027 takes place over two weekends, from the 9th to 11th April and 16th to 18th April 2027, in Indio, California. The dates have been public since April 2026. The line-up has not been published yet, though reports in late October 2026 named SZA, Dua Lipa and Tame Impala as the acts in line to headline. This page covers what the festival is, what has and has not been announced, and why groups from the UK look at it. For the full story on the rumours, read is SZA headlining Coachella 2027.

What is Coachella?

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is one of the most talked-about music festivals in the world. It began with a two-day event in October 1999, founded by Paul Tollett and Rick Van Santen, and is held in the desert of southern California. Since 2012 it has run as two consecutive three-day weekends in April, with the same bill on each. The attendance cap was raised to 125,000 in 2016.

It has a reputation for setting up the year in music. Pop, rap, rock, Latin and dance acts share the bill, surprise guests are part of the appeal, and the art installations and the ferris wheel have become as well known as the stages. In 2026 Madonna joined Sabrina Carpenter on the second weekend, and SZA and Billie Eilish both appeared during Justin Bieber's set. Our Coachella hub has more on how the weekends work.

Coachella 2027 dates

  • Weekend one: Friday 9th April to Sunday 11th April 2027.
  • Weekend two: Friday 16th April to Sunday 18th April 2027.

Pollstar reported the dates on 20th April 2026 and NME on 22nd April 2026. On past form, the same acts play both weekends, so the choice between them usually comes down to diaries. California is eight hours behind the UK in April, which matters if you are planning calls around a client trip or following along from home.

Who is reported to headline Coachella 2027?

As of 4th November 2026, the festival has not published a line-up, so everything in this section is reported rather than confirmed.

  • SZA: TMZ said on 30th October 2026 that she was "nearly confirmed", and Hits Daily Double said the same day that she "will occupy the final prime position on the poster". Consequence reported that she then shared the TMZ story on her alternate Instagram account. She has never headlined Coachella.
  • Dua Lipa: reported by Hits Daily Double from 1st September 2026 and by TMZ on 30th October. Hits says she has never played a full solo set at the event.
  • Tame Impala: reported by the same two outlets. The band headlined in 2019.
  • Fred again..: reported by Hits Daily Double for a slot lower down the poster.

Earlier reports were different. Hits Daily Double said on 2nd October that Drake was "in the Coachella discussion", which is covered on our Drake tour 2027 blog. Neither report on 30th October named him, so the latest reporting points elsewhere, but nobody has ruled him out on the record. TMZ also said that BTS and Rage Against the Machine passed. Pollstar expected the line-up some time between September 2026 and January 2027, and TMZ says it will come soon.

Why UK groups look at Coachella

Coachella is a long way from home, so nobody picks it by accident. Here is what tends to put it on the list for groups from the UK.

  • The timing. Mid-April falls before the British summer season, so a group can do something big in spring and still have the summer calendar free.
  • The story. A trip to the desert for a festival this famous is far easier to get a client or team excited about than another night out in town.
  • The flexibility. Two weekends with the same bill give a group two sets of dates to work with.
  • The bill. If the reports are right, it would mean seeing three major acts at one festival, one of them a London-born pop star playing her first full Coachella set.
  • The weather. SPIN described near-90-degree Fahrenheit heat at the 2026 festival, which sounds very attractive in a British April, although a group should plan for sun, dust and cooler desert nights.

Be realistic as well. This is a long-haul trip with plenty of walking and hot days, and the choice of weekend affects every other plan. Groups usually do better starting those conversations early, with a rough headcount and a preferred weekend in mind.

Coachella or a UK summer date?

Plenty of the reported names may also be in Britain next year, so it can help to look at the two side by side. The Sun has reported that Dua Lipa is planning UK stadium dates for summer 2027, although she has announced nothing: see our Dua Lipa UK stadium tour 2027 page and Dua Lipa tour hub. Drake has confirmed a 2027 world tour with no dates yet, and our Drake UK tour 2027 page tracks that one.

Past Coachella headliners make the same point. Karol G headlined in 2026 and plays Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 6th July 2027. Sabrina Carpenter headlined too, and the Sabrina Carpenter UK stadium tour rumours are worth a read. For British festival summers, our Glastonbury Festival and BST Hyde Park hubs are a good place to compare, and the major UK stadium concerts list shows what else is already set for 2027. Fans of the rap and R&B end of the bill should look at our hip hop and R&B tours page, including Kendrick Lamar.

Frequently Asked Questions

Coachella 2027 runs over two weekends, 9th to 11th April and 16th to 18th April 2027, in Indio, California. Pollstar reported the dates on 20th April 2026.

SZA, Dua Lipa and Tame Impala are the reported headliners, according to TMZ and Hits Daily Double on 30th October 2026. The festival had not published a line-up by 4th November 2026.

The date has not been given. Pollstar expected it between September 2026 and January 2027, based on past years, and TMZ said on 30th October that it would come soon. The 2026 poster appeared in mid-September 2025.

Drake was reported to be in the discussion on 2nd October 2026, but the reports of 30th October named SZA, Dua Lipa and Tame Impala instead. Nothing has been confirmed either way. He last headlined Coachella in 2015.

Both weekends normally have the same bill, a format the festival has used since 2012. That makes the choice between 9th to 11th April and 16th to 18th April 2027 mainly a question of diaries, though surprise guests can differ, as they did in 2026.

UK groups look at Coachella for its timing in mid-April, ahead of the British summer, and for the chance to see several major acts in one place. It is also a memorable trip for clients or a team, with two weekends to choose from.
