U2 will tour North America in 2027, but not a single US or Canadian date or city has been announced yet. On 29 October 2026 the band said on U2.com that "2027 dates for North America are set to be announced in the coming weeks", in the same post that revealed the UK and European dates of The Greatest Show On Earth world tour. Until those dates land, every city list you see, ours included, is a prediction.

Last updated: 2 November 2026.

Here's the state of play. A new album, Carnaval De Luz, arrives on 13 November 2026. Consequence calls this U2's first world tour in eight years, and Larry Mullen Jr is back on drums, so all four of them share a stage again. Latin America is booked. Europe is booked. There is even an NFL halftime show in Los Angeles at the end of November. The US and Canada, where U2 have played some of the biggest shows of their career, are the one big blank on the map. Fans have noticed, and the guessing has started.

What U2 have said about North American dates

Not much, and they are enjoying that. When the tour was first announced on 15 October 2026, Consequence reported that "Additional 2027 dates for Europe and North America are set to be announced in the coming week." Europe arrived two weeks later, on 29 October. North America did not. The U2.com post that day moved the wording on to "the coming weeks", and added that "dates for Spain to be announced soon."

The Edge has been playing it coy. Asked about what comes after Europe, he told NME: "We can't say too much about the next leg of 'The Greatest Show On Earth'", adding that the band are "still figuring it out." On U2.com he dropped the one solid clue so far: "we'll be wrapping it up in Ireland." So Ireland closes the tour, and North America sits somewhere in between.

U2 North America 2027: what we know and what we don't

  • Confirmed: North American dates for 2027, in U2's own words, "set to be announced in the coming weeks".
  • Confirmed: the tour opens in Mexico City on 23 February 2027, then plays São Paulo and Buenos Aires, with Beck as support.
  • Confirmed: 12 UK and European stadium shows from 26 April to 6 July 2027, with Wolf Alice as support.
  • Confirmed: the tour finishes in Ireland, according to The Edge, though no Irish date has been named.
  • Not announced: any US or Canadian city, venue or date, or Spanish dates.

Carnaval De Luz: the album behind the tour

The tour is named after the album's third preview single. Carnaval De Luz arrives on 13 November 2026, and Consequence reported that "The Greatest Show On Earth" followed "Silencio" and "Street of Dreams" as the third taste of it. Brian Eno co-wrote the title track, and Anton Corbijn directed its video, a satire of a cult in which the women do most of the work.

That matters for the North American leg because the timing lines up. An album in November, a halftime show watched across the US a fortnight later, a stadium run the following year: it is a classic U2 build. And each of U2's last three tours, the 360° Tour, the Joshua Tree Tour in 2017 and Experience + Innocence in 2018, played North America in a big way.

U2 2027 tour dates announced so far

Here is the full list as it stood on 2 November 2026. Extra nights were added in all three Latin American cities after high demand for the first shows, Official Charts reported. Strictly speaking Mexico City is in North America, so the tour does start on the continent. When U2 talk about "North America" dates still to come, though, the US and Canada are what everyone is waiting for.

The band's own statement set the tone for all of it. "'The Greatest Show on Earth'? Now that's a throwdown," they said, calling the tour "a dare, to ourselves as much as anyone, to try and have the best night of anybody's life." And the line that should worry anyone hoping for a low-key US leg: "Because if people are gonna show up, we certainly are."

When will U2 announce North American dates?

On the record, "in the coming weeks" from 29 October 2026. Off the record, there is one date fans keep circling: Wednesday 25 November 2026, when U2 headline the halftime show at the NFL's first Thanksgiving Eve game. A US tour reveal around a halftime set watched across America would make obvious sense. To be clear, that is fan speculation.

The calendar gives a few clues. Latin America finishes in Buenos Aires on 27 March. Europe starts in Stockholm on 26 April and runs to Milan on 6 July. That leaves a four-week window in April, tight for a full North American leg, and a wide-open second half of 2027 after Milan. Then Ireland, last of all.

The lead times so far are generous. The Latin American dates were announced on 15 October 2026 for shows starting in late February, about four months out. The European dates were announced on 29 October for shows from late April to early July, six to eight months out. A North American announcement in November or December would give the band that same kind of runway for a summer or autumn leg.

History offers a template. On the Joshua Tree Tour in 2017, U2 opened in Vancouver on 12 May, played North American stadiums until 1 July, went to Europe for July and August, then came back for a second North American run in September, including Detroit, Minneapolis and Kansas City. My read: a split like that is possible again, but the most likely shape is one big US and Canada stadium run from the late summer into the autumn of 2027.

Which cities could U2 play in North America in 2027?

None has been announced, so everything in this section is a prediction. The best guide is where U2 went on their last stadium tours: the Joshua Tree Tour in 2017 and the U2 360° Tour of 2009 to 2011. Some cities turn up every time.

Prediction only: likely North American cities for U2 in 2027, based on past stadium routing (sources: Wikipedia tour pages). No North American city has been announced.

Mexico City: the North American dates that already exist

Technically, U2 have already announced four North American shows. The tour opens at Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City on 23 February 2027, with further nights on 26 and 28 February and 2 March, the last of them added because of demand. Beck supports. It is a return to a city that has had U2 at stadium scale before: the 360° Tour played Estadio Azteca in 2011. So if you hear someone say the North American leg has started, they are not wrong, just early.

New York and New Jersey

If there is one certainty on a U2 stadium tour, it is the New York area. In 2017 they played two nights at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on 28 and 29 June. On the 360° Tour they played the old Giants Stadium on the same site in 2009, then the newly built stadium in July 2011. Even the 2018 arena tour came through Madison Square Garden and Newark. Two MetLife nights in 2027 would surprise nobody.

Los Angeles: Rose Bowl or SoFi Stadium?

Los Angeles is U2's record-breaking town. On 25 October 2009, the 360° Tour drew 97,014 people to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, a US record for a single concert by one headline act, and the show became the first concert streamed live on YouTube. They were back at the Rose Bowl for two nights in May 2017.

This time there is a twist. U2's halftime show on 25 November 2026 is at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, the home of the Rams. A band that plays a stadium's biggest night of the year in November might fancy coming back to headline it the next summer. Our guess: Los Angeles gets at least two nights, and the venue fight between the Rose Bowl and SoFi is a genuine toss-up.

Chicago

Soldier Field has hosted U2 on the 2009 and 2011 legs of the 360° Tour and again on 3 and 4 June 2017. In arena years they head to the United Center, which hosted them on the 2018 Experience + Innocence Tour. Chicago is as close to a lock as an unannounced city gets.

Las Vegas: does Sphere get a sequel?

Here's the juicy one. U2 opened Sphere in Las Vegas with U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere, 40 shows between 29 September 2023 and 2 March 2024, playing to 663,000 people and grossing a reported 244.5 million US dollars. When the residency began, the band's manager Irving Azoff said U2's deal included an option to play Sphere for two more years. Nobody has said whether it was ever taken up.

Would a stadium tour come back to Vegas after Sphere? It did last time they were arena-sized: the 2018 tour played T-Mobile Arena. And Las Vegas will be busy in 2027 anyway, with Oasis booked into Allegiant Stadium on 20, 21 and 24 August. My read: a one-off Vegas stadium night is plausible, but a return to Sphere would be the bigger headline. Pure speculation either way.

Toronto, Vancouver and the rest

Canada has been on every U2 stadium tour in this list. Vancouver's BC Place opened the 2017 tour on 12 May, and Toronto's Rogers Centre had them on 23 June 2017, after both hosted the 360° Tour in 2009. Expect both again. Beyond them, the 2017 run took in Seattle, Santa Clara, Houston, Arlington, Pittsburgh, Miami Gardens, Tampa, Philadelphia, Landover, Foxborough and Cleveland on the first leg alone, so the second tier of cities is wide open.

Boston, Philadelphia and Washington

The East Coast is where the 2017 tour stacked up nights. That year they played Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field on 18 June, FedExField in Landover, outside Washington, on 20 June, and Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, near Boston, on 25 June, three cities inside eight days. Landover and Foxborough had both hosted the 360° Tour in 2009 too. One bit of gossip to watch: Oasis are booked into Gillette Stadium for three nights in August 2027, so if U2 want Foxborough, they will be fitting around the Gallaghers.

Seattle, Houston and the West

Out west, Seattle's CenturyLink Field had U2 on 14 May 2017, the night of the photo at the top of this page, and it hosted the 360° Tour in 2011 under its old name, Qwest Field. Santa Clara's Levi's Stadium followed on 17 May 2017, then Houston's NRG Stadium on 24 May, a venue U2 also played in 2009 when it was Reliant Stadium. Glendale in Arizona hosted both the 2009 and 2017 tours. Any of them could return; none is confirmed.

Who will support U2 in North America?

Not announced. Beck opens the Latin American shows and Wolf Alice open in the UK and Europe, so each leg so far has had its own guest. Expect a separate name for the US and Canada when the dates arrive. Anything you read before then is guesswork.

Stadiums, not arenas

One thing we can say with some confidence is the size of the rooms. U2's last arena tour of North America, Experience + Innocence in 2018, ran 27 shows from 2 May to 3 July 2018 in venues such as Madison Square Garden and Newark's Prudential Center. The Greatest Show On Earth is a stadium tour, its first since The Joshua Tree in 2019, and every European date is in a stadium or a stadium-sized arena. Expect the same across the Atlantic.

The Thanksgiving Eve halftime show: U2's American warm-up

Before any of this, U2 play one very big American night. Netflix announced on 20 October 2026 that the band will headline the halftime show at the NFL's first Thanksgiving Eve game, the Green Bay Packers at the Los Angeles Rams, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood on Wednesday 25 November 2026. It streams on Netflix, and kick-off at 8pm Eastern Time is 1am on Thursday 26 November in the UK. Our U2 Thanksgiving Eve halftime page has the details.

Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos said U2 "don't just perform, they deliver iconic moments audiences remember forever." He has a point. The last time U2 played an NFL halftime was Super Bowl XXXVI in New Orleans in February 2002, when they performed "Where the Streets Have No Name" as the names of the victims of the 11 September attacks were shown behind them. The band are also marking 50 years together.

Why U2's North American leg will be huge

Look at the numbers from the last two stadium tours. The U2 360° Tour, from 2009 to 2011, grossed about 736.4 million US dollars from about 7.27 million tickets, the biggest touring numbers on record at the time, and both records stood until 2019. The 2017 Joshua Tree Tour drew about 2.7 million people and grossed about 317 million US dollars, the highest-grossing tour of that year. Sphere added 663,000 more in Las Vegas.

Even the smaller formats travel well in America. The 2018 Experience + Innocence arena leg grossed a reported 61.5 million US dollars from 27 North American shows, according to Billboard figures quoted on Wikipedia, and the Sphere residency ranks as the fourth-highest-grossing concert residency of all time. Put a stadium tour, a new album and all four original members together, and the US leg of The Greatest Show On Earth has every chance of being the biggest stretch of the whole tour. That last part is our read, not a forecast from anyone involved.

The American summer of 2027 is getting crowded, though. Harry Styles plays two nights each in North American stadiums from Phoenix to Chicago between April and May 2027, and Oasis take their Oasis Live '27 tour to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough in August, then Las Vegas. Drake has promised a world tour in 2027 too, as our Drake tour 2027 piece covers, and the Oasis story is in our Oasis Live '27 guide. Stadium calendars fill up fast, which is one more reason to think U2 have already pencilled in their dates and are simply choosing their moment.

What it means for UK fans

For British fans the important dates are already fixed: Friday 18 and Saturday 19 June 2027 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Wolf Alice as special guests. They are the only UK dates on the tour so far and U2's first London stadium shows since July 2017. Our U2 UK tour 2027 guide covers the whole European leg, and the stadium itself is profiled in our Tottenham Hotspur Stadium concerts guide.

If you are thinking of hosting clients at one of those London nights, our U2 London 2027 page covers hospitality at the stadium, from lounges with food and drink to seats close to the stage. And for every other big name heading to British stadiums next year, see our major UK stadium concerts page.

Our read on U2's North American dates

Cards on the table. We expect U2's North American dates to arrive before the end of 2026, quite possibly around the Thanksgiving Eve halftime show, and we expect a stadium leg in the second half of 2027, after Milan and before the Irish finale The Edge has promised. New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, Boston and Vancouver look like the safest calls on past form. Las Vegas is the wildcard, because of Sphere.

What would change our mind? A Sphere announcement instead of stadiums would rewrite the whole map, and so would a short April leg squeezed between Buenos Aires and Stockholm, which would mean fewer cities and more nights in each. If North American news still has not arrived by the new year, expect the leg to slip later into 2027, closer to the Irish finale.

None of that is confirmed, and we will update this post the day the dates drop. In the meantime, the one U2 stadium date you can plan around in Britain is London in June, and the U2 London 2027 page is where our hospitality details live.
